kloetzel&co. began in 1997 as
a New York-based dance theatre company committed to exploring the
awkward, the physical, and the utterly quixotic. Since its inception, kloetzel&co.
has moved between theatre spaces and more unconventional sites, pulling out the movement
sources in each unique context. As a company devoted to character investigation as
well as pure movement inquiry, kloetzel&co. attempts to discover the humor, pain,
and frustration associated with places, people, and states of being. kloetzel&co. has recently found a home in Calgary, AB where the company enjoyed four sold-out performances of The Alice Odyssey in 2011. kloetzel&co. is
particularly dedicated to artistic collaboration and attempts to foster creative
experiments with writers, filmmakers, and musicians in each place along its
choreographic journey. Highly devoted to local
communities and artists, kloetzel&co. often
offers free performances at outdoor venues and/or workshops to facilitate
communication regarding what it means to live and create on a local, national,
